Keven | Founder, Diverse Barber
Keven’s journey in barbering began 30 years ago as a hobby, cutting hair for friends and family. An entrepreneur at heart, he launched his very first business venture at just 16 years old, cutting hair during his high school lunch breaks. To back his passion with a firm grasp of business, Keven enrolled at George Brown College, graduating in 1998. He then spent 18 months refining his craft at Avola College of Hairstyling in Toronto, earning his government license in 2000. Throughout his post-secondary years, Keven apprenticed at and eventually managed one of downtown Toronto's most respected barbershops—a premier spot that regularly serviced the Toronto Raptors
Toronto Blue Jays and famous musicians and actors.

Diverse Barbershop first opened its doors on June 5, 2002, establishing its roots in a vibrant downtown core. Operating entirely on a walk-in basis, the shop quickly grew from a local business into a lively community hub. It became a place defined by shared memories, where customers built connections over deep conversations, played Xbox video games, and patiently waited through two-hour lines just to get into a chair. After successfully navigating years of surrounding courthouse and LRT infrastructure construction, the shop ultimately closed a chapter and relocated to make way for a new condominium development.

In June 2017, we moved to our second location. Situated just on the outskirts of downtown Kitchener, right off King Street, this chapter brought an exciting shift. We adapted to a more intimate, tucked-away space that offered the major bonus of plenty of parking. It was here that we introduced our highly successful hybrid model—combining the convenience of scheduled appointments with the flexibility of walk-in opportunities.

with a strong Instagram footprint. In line with this forward-thinking direction, Keven introduced Diverse Teach—a dedicated educational program designed to train industry professionals in the precise art of clipper education and modern barbering techniques.
